Congressman Mike Lawler of New York’s 17th District, who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, has responded to the anticipated release of Edan Alexander. This development follows his initiative in leading a bipartisan letter to President Trump, urging action for the return of hostages from Gaza.
“On Friday, I led a bipartisan letter to the Trump administration asking President Trump to continue exerting maximum diplomatic pressure in order to return all of the hostages still being held in Gaza,” stated Chairman Lawler.
He expressed optimism about the news regarding Edan Alexander: “Today, I’m thrilled by the news that we may soon have Edan Alexander return home. I applaud President Trump for his tireless work in securing the release of the hostages. We must not relent until they’re all brought home,” he concluded.
Lawler is recognized as one of Congress’s most bipartisan members and represents an area just north of New York City. His district includes parts or all of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties. In the 118th Congress, he was noted as the most effective freshman lawmaker and ranked eighth overall among peers.
