Congressman Mike Lawler, a representative known for his engagement on both local and international issues, recently addressed a range of topics in a series of social media posts dated July 15, 2025.
In his first post, Lawler paid tribute to Patty Rathschmidt, a resident of Putnam County who passed away suddenly. He stated, “My friend and an extraordinary Putnam County resident, Patty Rathschmidt, suddenly passed away. Patty and her husband founded United For The Troops, a nonprofit that has sent tens of thousands of care packages to our men and women in uniform. It was a privilege to share her story” (July 15, 2025).
Later the same day, Lawler announced new bipartisan legislation aimed at addressing extreme heat through investments in tree cover and shade along transit routes. He wrote, “I introduced bipartisan legislation with @RepStricklandWA to tackle extreme heat with smart investments in tree cover and shade along transit routes. It’s a commonsense way to protect public health, save taxpayer dollars, and cool our communities.” (July 15, 2025).
In another post on July 15, Lawler commented on Ireland’s draft BDS law targeting Israel. He remarked, “Ireland’s draft BDS law is reckless and sets a dangerous precedent. Targeting Israel won’t bring peace, and will only reward extremism. Ireland should reject this misguided legislation and stand against hate.” (July 15, 2025).
United For The Troops is a nonprofit organization co-founded by Patty Rathschmidt that focuses on sending care packages to U.S. military personnel stationed overseas.
