Congressman Mike Lawler, who represents New York’s 17th congressional district, posted a series of messages on his social media account in mid-February 2026, addressing local public safety efforts, national commemoration, and federal workforce policy.
On February 15, 2026, Lawler shared an account of first responders assisting a woman in labor. He wrote: “On Friday evening in West Haverstraw, Sgt. Brad Harm and Officer Cassandra Marrero responded to a call for a woman in labor—and ended up delivering a healthy baby right on scene. Thanks to their swift actions, teamwork with EMS, and help from the community, both mom and baby are”. The message highlighted the collaboration between police officers and emergency medical services in Rockland County.
The following day, February 16, Lawler marked Presidents’ Day by reflecting on American history. In his post he stated: “Today we honor the leaders who shaped our nation and the enduring ideals of freedom, democracy, and service they stood for. On Presidents’ Day, we reflect on our history and the values that continue to guide our country.” The holiday is observed annually on the third Monday of February as a tribute to past U.S. presidents.
Later that same day, Lawler addressed workforce adaptation amid technological changes by referencing new legislation: “The objective of the AI Workforce Training Act is to ensure that Americans are not displaced by AI, but instead are equipped to work with it. This legislation would help incentivize businesses to ensure their employees receive proper training.” The introduction of such policies comes as advancements in artificial intelligence prompt lawmakers nationwide to consider strategies for mitigating job displacement through skills development initiatives.
Lawler’s recent posts reflect ongoing concerns about community safety responses at the local level as well as broader national discussions around historical legacy and workforce resilience during technological change.
