Congressman Mike Lawler, representing New York’s 17th congressional district, has recently made several public statements on his social media account addressing both legislative achievements and community issues.
On October 16, 2025, Lawler highlighted milestones in his congressional tenure, writing “After withstanding Mondaire Jones’ failed comeback bid, the second-term Republican helped significantly raise the state and local tax deduction cap and was named chair of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee and vice chair for communications on the Financial Services https://t.co/Qdry4HGUqj”. The post references Lawler’s roles within key House committees as well as his involvement in efforts to adjust tax policy affecting residents of New York.
Later that day, Lawler expressed condolences regarding a prominent community leader. On October 16, 2025 he posted: “Deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Rabbi Moshe Hauer, Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union. His leadership and devotion to the Jewish people leaves a lasting legacy. May his memory be a blessing. https://t.co/3TSJmDgOwS”.
In another update focused on local infrastructure, Lawler announced progress on transportation concerns in Stony Point. On October 17, 2025 he stated: “Great news for Stony Point! The James Farley Bridge is expected to fully reopen Monday, restoring two-way traffic and easing the burden on local businesses and families.
I fought to ensure that the state and CHPE reopened the bridge to two way traffic — but Albany and CHPE still”.
Congressman Lawler serves New York’s lower Hudson Valley region in Congress. In recent years he has been involved in efforts to address local infrastructure needs such as road repairs and transportation safety improvements across Rockland County communities. He has also participated actively in debates over federal tax policy changes that impact high-tax states like New York—specifically concerning adjustments to deductions for state and local taxes (SALT). Additionally, Lawler’s committee assignments include foreign affairs responsibilities related to Middle East policy oversight.
