Congressman Mike Lawler, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa, has expressed his support for President Trump’s newly announced peace plan aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza. The proposal includes more than 20 points, such as an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages within 48 to 72 hours, the disarmament of Hamas, and setting up an interim international body to oversee Gaza until reforms are made within the Palestinian Authority.
Israel, the United States, and key Arab nations have already indicated their approval of the agreement. This reflects a rare consensus among major regional stakeholders.
“This is a watershed moment for peace in the Middle East. After years of bloodshed, innocent lives lost, and families torn apart, the United States, Israel, and our Arab partners have offered a serious framework to end this conflict. Now the onus is on Hamas to step forward and embrace peace, not destruction,” said Congressman Lawler.
He also warned Hamas about rejecting the deal: “Let me be absolutely clear: if Hamas rejects this deal, they will not only be rejecting peace, they will be sealing their own fate. Their terror regime will be dismantled piece by piece. The choice is clear: accept peace or face devastating consequences. With Israel, the United States, and neighboring Arab nations aligned behind this agreement, Hamas has nowhere to hide. The world is watching. The people of Gaza, Israel, and the region deserve peace, and the terrorists who stand in the way will be crushed if they defy this moment,” he added.
Lawler represents New York’s 17th Congressional District north of New York City. His district includes Rockland County as well as parts of Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties. He was recognized as one of Congress’s most bipartisan members and was rated as the most effective freshman lawmaker in the 118th Congress.
