Congressman Mike Lawler, a member of the House Financial Services Committee, and Kelly Loeffler, Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), visited two local businesses in Rockland County on March 2. The tour included stops at Celtic Sheet Metal in Orangeburg and Caribbean Food Delights in Tappan.
During their visit, Lawler and Loeffler spoke with business owners and employees about federal efforts to support small businesses. They highlighted provisions in the Working Families Tax Cuts Bill, which aims to promote fair trade, lower taxes, and reduce regulations for companies operating in areas like the Hudson Valley.
“Small businesses like manufacturing companies and restaurants are exactly the kind of companies that will benefit from the Working Families Tax Cuts Bill. By advancing fair trade, cutting taxes, and rolling back burdensome regulations, the Administration is providing manufacturers with the support they need to hire, expand, and compete,” said Congressman Lawler.
SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler emphasized how national policies are impacting local employers: “With President Trump’s pro-growth economic agenda, local manufacturers like Celtic Sheet Metal and Caribbean Food Delights are hiring, growing, and restoring American industry. Thanks to Congressman Lawler and his House colleagues, tax cuts, fair trade, and deregulation are restoring opportunity to local businesses across New York’s 17th District. The Trump SBA is proud to support them with the resources and capital to unleash the golden age of Main Street.”
The event focused on measures intended to strengthen domestic manufacturing while reducing regulatory requirements for small firms. Both officials stated that these changes would help small businesses better compete within today’s economy.
Congressman Lawler represents New York’s 17th Congressional District north of New York City. His district includes all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties. He has been recognized as one of Congress’s most bipartisan members and was rated as the most effective freshman lawmaker during the 118th Congress.
