Congressman Mike Lawler, who represents New York’s 17th congressional district, posted a series of statements on January 9, 2026, addressing law enforcement appreciation, tax cuts, and healthcare policy.
In a message acknowledging law enforcement personnel, Lawler wrote on January 9: “Today we recognize the brave men and women of law enforcement who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe. Your service, sacrifice, and commitment to public safety do not go unnoticed. Thank you for all you do for NY-17 and our nation “
Later that day, Lawler discussed recent legislative actions related to taxation: “We passed the largest tax cut in history, delivering a $4,000 tax cut for Americans and spurring economic growth. I will continue working to support job creation and affordability for all New Yorkers.”
In another post from January 9 regarding healthcare policy, Lawler commented on the Affordable Care Act: “The fact remains that Obamacare has not reduced premium costs. It’s time to pursue real solutions through a bipartisan approach to the ACA.”
Lawler has previously focused on public safety initiatives and economic policy as part of his legislative agenda in Congress. The debate over the effectiveness of the Affordable Care Act (commonly known as Obamacare) in reducing insurance premiums continues among lawmakers.
