Congressman Mike Lawler, who represents New York’s 17th congressional district, recently made several statements on his social media account addressing a range of issues from federal funding for education to local political developments and community tragedies.
On July 18, 2025, Lawler expressed gratitude toward the former president for supporting educational programs. He wrote, “I would like to thank President Trump for responding promptly to our request to release the funding, recognizing the importance of these programs for our children’s futures. As always, I remain committed to ensuring students have every opportunity for success.” This statement follows ongoing discussions about federal support for educational initiatives in New York and highlights Lawler’s continued advocacy for student opportunities.
The following day, July 19, 2025, Lawler commented on the upcoming mayoral race in New York City. He stated, “New York City is on the path to elect a self declared socialist as their next mayor. NYC needs a one on one race for mayor in order to avoid falling into communism.” The remarks come amid a heated political climate as candidates with differing ideologies compete in the city’s election.
Later that same day, Lawler addressed a recent tragedy involving a young member of the community. In his post he said, “My heart is heavy as we remember little Golda Eisenbach, tragically taken from us by a drunk driver. A devastating loss that reminds us how one reckless choice can shatter so many lives. May Golda’s memory always be a blessing.” Drunk driving remains a significant public safety concern across New York State and nationwide.
Congressman Mike Lawler has been an active voice on issues affecting both his district and broader state matters since taking office in January 2023.
