Montefiore Nyack Hospital has been recognized as a 2026 Leader in Cardiac Care by Healthgrades, marking the second consecutive year the hospital has received the Coronary Intervention Excellence Award. The hospital is ranked among the top 10% in the nation for coronary intervention care and has also earned five-star ratings for both heart attack treatment and coronary interventional procedures.

According to Montefiore Nyack Hospital President and CEO Mark E. Geller, MD, FACR, “Our state-of-the-art Cath Lab and team of cardiac experts provide coronary interventions for emergencies and scheduled procedures. For those patients needing immediate cardiac care, time is not lost travelling far from home, which makes a great difference in successful outcomes. We are very proud of our team for achieving this recognition for two years in a row. It highlights our commitment to providing the highest quality care in our local community.”

Healthgrades evaluates risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for over 30 common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide each year to determine its specialty awards. The analysis aims to help patients identify hospitals that excel in specific areas of care.

Alana Biggers, MD, MPH, medical advisor at Healthgrades, stated: “Healthgrades’ specialty awards identify the nation’s top-performing hospitals in key service areas, helping consumers find high-quality care tailored to their specific needs. We’re proud to recognize Montefiore Nyack Hospital for its consistently superior outcomes in cardiac care.”

The importance of choosing high-performing hospitals is highlighted by Healthgrades’ recent analysis covering data from 2022 through 2024. The study found that if all hospitals performed similarly to five-star facilities during this period, an estimated 230,466 lives could have been saved and 156,797 complications avoided among Medicare patients.

Montefiore Nyack Hospital is a 375-bed community acute care medical and surgical facility located in Rockland County, New York. Founded in 1895, it provides emergency and acute care services to local residents and partners with academic institutions such as Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Healthgrades operates as part of RVO Health—a partnership between Red Ventures and Optum under UnitedHealth Group—and offers resources that allow millions of users each month to find healthcare providers suited to their needs across multiple platforms.
