Montefiore Nyack Hospital has received renewed accreditation from the Joint Commission, an organization that sets standards for patient safety and quality care in healthcare facilities. The hospital underwent an unannounced onsite survey in August, during which Joint Commission surveyors evaluated compliance in areas such as emergency management, infection prevention, medication management, and overall quality improvement.

Anthony Matejicka, DO, MPH, FACP, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Montefiore Nyack Hospital stated: “We are especially proud of our team for their ongoing dedication to delivering the absolute best healthcare services to our patients. We continue to make significant improvements across all clinical areas, demonstrating that high-quality and safe patient care is a core value of our hospital.  These initiatives lead to tangible benefits for patients, staff, and our organization.”

The accreditation process included on-site observations and interviews by the Joint Commission team. This process is designed to help healthcare organizations identify strengths as well as opportunities for continued improvement.

Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing officer at the Joint Commission said: “Joint Commission congratulates Montefiore Nyack Hospital for achieving accreditation by demonstrating its focus on delivering safe and effective care of the highest quality and value. Through the accreditation process, we worked closely with (Organization Name) to enable and affirm the highest standards of healthcare quality and patient safety. Together, we are elevating care for all patients, and we appreciate Montefiore Nyack Hospital’s collaboration throughout this process.”

Montefiore Nyack Hospital is a 391-bed community acute care medical and surgical hospital founded in 1895 in Rockland County, New York. It provides emergency and acute care services to residents of Rockland County and nearby areas. The hospital is part of Montefiore Health System and partners with Albert Einstein College of Medicine as well as Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine to offer clinical rotations for medical students.
