Montefiore Nyack Hospital, in collaboration with the Rockland County Breastfeeding Coalition, is set to commemorate World Breastfeeding Week from August 1-7, 2025. The hospital will host the “Live, Love, Latch!” 4th Annual World Breastfeeding Week Picnic Celebration on Friday, August 1, 2025. The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Haverstraw Bay Park Pavilion located at 21 Gagan Road in Haverstraw, N.Y. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP by July 28th via Facebook at Live, Love, Latch! BYOB Picnic or through email at ClarkstownLLL@gmail.com.

The picnic is a free “Bring Your Own Basket” event organized in partnership with Montefiore Nyack Hospital and the Rockland County Lactation Coalition. Other participating organizations include the Rockland County Department of Health, The New York Milk Bank, Lower Hudson Valley Perinatal Network, and Children’s Health and Research Foundation. The Rockland County Breastfeeding Coalition aims to improve breastfeeding outcomes and enhance the health of mothers and babies in Rockland County by empowering families through local community-based support systems.

The event serves as an educational opportunity for family members, friends, healthcare providers, and other community members to learn how they can support breastfeeding. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of having a supportive network for nursing mothers to promote better health outcomes for children. This year’s theme for World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is “Prioritize Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems,” focusing on strengthening capacities to protect and promote breastfeeding across different societal levels.
