Representative Michael Lawler expressed his satisfaction as the Hudson River Protection Act successfully passed through the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Lawler, along with Representatives Ryan and Molinaro, introduced the bill, which is now part of the Coast Guard Reauthorization Act. The legislation aims to preserve the natural beauty of the Hudson Valley communities and prevent the creation of additional anchorages along the Hudson River.

Lawler stated, "The Hudson River Protection Act will go a long way to preserving the natural beauty of our Hudson Valley communities - something that has been a top priority of mine from day one." He emphasized his commitment to working with his colleagues to ensure the bill becomes law.

Congressman Pat Ryan also highlighted the significance of the bill, noting, "Never again will big corporations be able to turn our Hudson River into a parking lot for dangerous barges." He praised the community's collective effort in pushing for change and achieving success.

Congressman Marc Molinaro, a long-time conservationist, expressed his dedication to protecting the Hudson River. He stated, "With this bipartisan bill, we are taking another step to protect the Hudson and ensuring we are not doing anything that could erase the progress we’ve made."

Riverkeeper Staff Attorney, Drew Gamils, commended the inclusion of the Hudson River Protection Act in the U.S. Coast Guard Reauthorization, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the Hudson River from potential risks.

Ned Sullivan, President of Scenic Hudson, expressed gratitude towards the Congressmen for their leadership in including the critical legislation in the Coast Guard Reauthorization bill. He emphasized the significance of the bill in protecting the beauty, health, and safety of the Hudson River and its surrounding communities.

The legislation introduced by Lawler, Ryan, and Molinaro seeks to amend the 2020 Elijah E. Cummings Coast Guard Authorization Act, ultimately prohibiting additional anchorages on the Hudson River. The bill's passage through the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee marks a significant milestone towards its enactment.
