Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) has expressed his support for Rockland County Executive Ed Day's decision to file a lawsuit against the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in order to halt congestion pricing. In a statement, Congressman Lawler commended Executive Day, stating, “County Executive Ed Day’s lawsuit against the MTA is warranted and has merit.”

Lawler further criticized the MTA's treatment of Rockland County commuters, condemning the proposed $15 per day congestion pricing as a burden on residents. He asserted, “Rockland County commuters are being screwed by the MTA on a daily basis, and now they’re pouring salt in the wound with their $15/day cash grab.”

The Congressman highlighted the need for better transportation solutions for Rockland County residents, emphasizing the MTA's failure to address fundamental issues. He stated, “Instead of working to provide Rockland County commuters with a true one-seat ride to New York City, the MTA is doubling down on bad revenue-raising policies that won’t fix the underlying issues at 2 Broadway.” Lawler concluded by calling for accountability within the MTA, demanding that the organization address issues of waste, fraud, and abuse before seeking additional funding from Rockland County taxpayers.

The 17th Congressional District of New York, represented by Congressman Lawler, encompasses areas north of New York City including Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.
