WESTCHESTER COUNTY: Latimer Recognizes the Women of the Executive Branch on the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment

Latimer

Westchester County issued the following announcement.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer is highlighting the strength his office derives from its diversity – as seen through the above picture – as the nation celebrates the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment which finally granted women the right to vote.

The 19th Amendment states “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.”

Latimer said: “The work that began by activists and suffragettes well over 100 years ago which culminated in the momentous ratification celebrated today lives on in my Administration. The talented leadership team in County government includes a large roster of women – many of which serve in key roles. From our Directors of Communications and Operations to our Planning and Solid Waste Commissioners – and more – women lead here in Westchester and I am honored to be a part of it.”
