ROCKLAND COUNTY: Police & Patrol Officer Civil Service Examination Postponed

Police

Rockland County issued the following announcement.

New City, NY, - The Police and Patrol Officer exam scheduled for September 26, 2020, has been postponed. In order for Rockland County to remain in compliance with the current Governor’s Executive Order pertaining to gatherings and after a lack of response to additional requests for examination specific guidance, the decision has been made to postpone this exam.

Based on the approximately 3,000 applicants, the Rockland County Department of Health cited concerns regarding public health and safety as well as the impact that holding the exam could have on our community. No date has yet been set but, NYS Civil Service will be consulted to reschedule in 2021 depending on the pandemic and any Governor’s Executive Orders in effect at that time.

All those approved and conditionally approved applicants in the pool will be eligible to take the next scheduled exam, but no further applications will be accepted. The current Police and Patrol Officer lists expire June 7, 2021, and the Department of Personnel will support local police departments by providing access to the County-wide list for recruitment (as applicable) and support agility testing as needed.

The Department of Personnel has notified applicants of the postponement but requests that those who have been previously contacted by the Department as a conditional approval provide the requested documentation or information if they have not already done so.

Any questions regarding the postponement of the examination or regarding the examination itself, should be addressed via email to RCExams@co.rockland.ny.us or by calling the Department of Personnel at (845) 364-3751.
