Westchester County issued the following announcement.
Take a stroll through the prehistoric era and learn about dinosaurs from virtual host Lexi the T-Rexi at the Dinosaur Garden at Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial, in Somers. It’s as easy as ready, aim, zap! The garden is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Dinosaur Garden comes alive with the help of the Zappar app, where park goers can download the free app to scan signs along the path to make Lexi appear and act as tour guide for preschoolers and their parents. Visitors are prompted to take a picture with the T-Rexi at the end of the tour and share on social media using #LexiAtLasdon.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer said: “The Dinosaur Garden at Lasdon Park has always been a unique park feature, now with the digital component making it interactive and social, it solidifies the park as a stand out, not-to-miss Westchester destination.”
The dinosaurs were recently refurbished by Genesis Pro Painting and Restoration in Bedford Hills and the path has been roped and widened.
Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial is a Westchester County Park on Route 35 in Somers. The GPS address is 2610 Amawalk Road, Katonah, NY 10536.
