April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, dedicated to raising awareness for, and preventing, child abuse.
On April 12, for Wear Blue for Child Abuse Prevention in New York, Rockland County Executive Ed Day issued a proclamation declaring April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Rockland.
At the event, the County Executive reflected on the child abuse cases he responded to as a former police commander in the NYPD.
“As many of you understand, who have gone through it, you always carry child abuse cases with you. The memories never go away. I know what it takes out of you and what it means for you to do these things,” the County Executive said to Department of Social Services staff. “You are saving lives. I understand what you do, support what you do, and want to personally thank you for all that you do.”
