There were 1,193 New Square households (73.2 percent) who received food stamps. New Square's population was 8,589 in 2020.

The city with the lowest percentage of households receiving food stamps in the state was East Williston, which had one of 838 households receiving food stamps, 73.1 percent less than New Square. In 2020 the population of East Williston was 2,552.
