Congressman Mike Lawler announced significant federal funding for infrastructure and public safety projects in New York's 17th Congressional District. Joined by Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco, Lawler highlighted over $32.9 million secured for fiscal year 2025, adding to the $38 million allocated in 2024. These efforts bring total funding to more than $70 million during his first term.

"When I was elected to represent this district, I promised I would work with my partners at every level of government and in both parties to prioritize the needs of our residents," said Congressman Lawler. He emphasized collaboration beyond political lines, stating, "Projects like these are great examples of what we can accomplish when we put aside politics and focus on meeting the needs of our communities and constituents."

Lawler is noted as one of the most bipartisan members of Congress, representing areas north of New York City including parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.

The press conference outlined several key projects funded by this initiative:

- **Rockland County Public Safety and Crime Prevention Initiative**: The Rockland County Sheriff's Office received $4.5 million for law enforcement priorities such as new police vehicles and a training facility.

- **Law Enforcement Reality-Based Training Facility**: An additional $2.6 million will support a new training facility aimed at enhancing public safety in Rockland County.

- **Westchester Pleasantville Water District Storage Tank Replacement/Rehabilitation**: A grant of $2.25 million will address risks from aging water storage tanks impacting over 7,500 residents.

- **Nanuet TOD Project**: The Town of Clarkstown was awarded $5 million for infrastructure improvements to enhance connectivity and economic opportunities.

Other notable projects include pedestrian safety measures in Ramapo ($5 million), upgrades to Carmel Water District II ($1.25 million), sewer extensions in Yorktown ($1.25 million), road improvements in New Square ($4 million), among others across various municipalities aimed at improving public health, safety, and economic development.
