The House Financial Services Committee has appointed Congressman Mike Lawler as Vice Chair of Communications. This new role highlights Congressman Lawler's growing influence in Washington and his strong media presence both there and in New York.
“I am deeply honored to have been selected as Vice Chair of Communications for the House Financial Services Committee,” stated Congressman Lawler. He expressed enthusiasm about working with Chairman French Hill, saying, “I am thrilled about the opportunity to share the Committee’s vision for housing, finance, crypto, insurance, and more with residents of the 17th Congressional District and our great country.”
Chairman French Hill praised Congressman Lawler's communication skills: “Congressman Lawler has been a strong communications leader for our Republican Conference, vigorously engaging with the press and driving our Conference’s messaging across many mediums.” He also noted that Lawler has been active on both the House Financial Services and Foreign Affairs Committees during his tenure. Hill added, “I am pleased that Congressman Lawler will be the first member to serve in this novel role on our Committee and lead in designing approaches to our Committee’s agenda and successes.”
The committee oversees various economic issues such as banking, economic stabilization, defense production, pricing, financial aid to commerce and industry, insurance, international finance and monetary organizations, money and credit, housing policy, securities and exchanges, and urban development.
Representing New York's 17th Congressional District—north of New York City—Congressman Lawler is recognized as one of Congress's most bipartisan members. His district includes parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties. The region is crucial to the financial sector with nearly 30,000 financial sector employees residing there.
