WESTCHESTER COUNTY: County Executive Latimer Tours, Gets Update on new New Rochelle Family Court

Westchester

Westchester County issued the following announcement.

After ensuring the construction of this desperately needed and long awaited building began, County Executive George Latimer joined key stakeholders as he received an update and toured the construction site of the new Family Court site at 26 Garden Street in New Rochelle.

Latimer said: “The construction of this building is another symbol of our administration’s willingness to tackle the difficult issues that have long been outstanding and find solutions that allow for the advancement of common goals. This new building is a win for all those involved.”

The new location will be a 35,000-square-foot space on two floors of a soon-to-be-constructed building at 26 Garden Street.

The Board of Legislators unanimously passed a 30-year lease and plans to construct a new facility that is the best option for taxpayers, the courts, and the community due to its easy access to mass transit, central location and the ability to create a state of the art facility.

9th Judicial District Administrative Judge Kathie Davidson said: “Recognizing that litigants deserve the right to have their cases heard in a dignified and respectful setting, indicates how we value all members of our society. The building of a new state of the art family court, through the powerful partnership of the local governmental and the court system, we have accomplished this important and meaningful message.”

New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson said: “Through a public-private partnership, we are able to construct a modern Family Court that is equipped to serve the needs of our region for decades.  I applaud the County's commitment to this essential priority, and look forward to opening the new Family Court near our downtown transit hub, accessible to all.”

Legislator Terry Clements said: “The new New Rochelle Family Court site is a monumental victory for all involved. This is a cooperative effort between the City, the County and private industry to provide a state-of-the-art facility that is easy to access for all who need it. Taking a tour of the construction site gave me a tremendous sense of the great work being done here.”

CEO & Founder of Stagg Group Mark Stagg said: “We are proud to be part of a historic project.  This is a great example of a private and public “partnership” that will be part of our County for decades to come.”

President of Simone Development Joe Simone said: “We are delighted to partner with Westchester County on this innovative and exciting project that provides a new and expanded home for the Family Court. This beautiful facility will also add to the amazing revitalization underway in downtown New Rochelle.”
