Of the 5,426 citizens living in New Hempstead in 2020, 3,924 were old enough to vote as of March 26, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

The bureau reported 1,998 of those people were female and 1,926 were male.

Data for this story was compiled from the bureau’s American Community Survey. Information from the survey helps to determine how federal and state funds are distributed.
