Republican State Senators unveiled an Antisemitism report in New York, addressing the rise in antisemitism in communities. Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt emphasized the importance of taking action to ensure the safety of all individuals regardless of their religion. He commended the working group and stakeholders for their efforts in developing comprehensive recommendations.

Senator Jack Martins, Chair of the Antisemitism Working Group, stressed the urgency of combating antisemitism, stating, "We must address higher educational institutions weeding out hate speech, the media reporting these crimes, and our elected officials should put partisanship aside and pass laws to end this crime."

The working group is advocating for five priority legislative initiatives in the state budget, including measures to define antisemitism within human rights laws, prohibit antisemitic behavior in educational settings, and establish acts to combat vandalism and harassment involving antisemitic symbols.

Senator Joseph Griffo highlighted the importance of the recommendations in preventing antisemitic incidents and enhancing public safety. He stated, "These reprehensible actions, which cause fear in the Jewish community, are unacceptable and must not be tolerated."

Senator Peter Oberacker echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the need for immediate action to prevent violent acts fueled by antisemitism. He expressed gratitude to the Jewish community for their collaboration in developing solutions to combat hate crimes.

Senator Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick, representing a district with a large Jewish population, emphasized the need to protect constituents from threats based on religious beliefs, stating, "Together with the other members of the working group, we have put forth necessary legislation that would ensure that our Jewish brothers and sisters no longer have to live in fear."

Senator Bill Weber acknowledged the alarming rise of antisemitism and expressed gratitude to colleagues and stakeholders for contributing ideas to combat this epidemic. He urged continuous efforts to end antisemitism through legislative action.

The New York State Senate Republican Conference is dedicated to ensuring public safety and protecting communities from hateful acts of violence. The proposed legislative initiatives aim to address rising antisemitism, prevent future incidents, and create a safer environment for all individuals.
