Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) has announced his ranking as the 4th-most bipartisan member of Congress, according to the recently published Bipartisan Index from the Lugar Center and Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy.
"It is a distinct honor to be recognized for my bipartisan work in Congress in the Lugar Center and Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy Bipartisan Index," said Congressman Lawler. "My term in Congress has been marked by a half-dozen of my bipartisan bills passing the House, returning over $38 million in Community Project Funding to the 17th District, and being the most accessible member of Congress in the 17th District in recent memory."
Lawler also expressed his commitment to continuing his bipartisan efforts during his tenure in the 118th Congress. "I look forward to continuing my bipartisan track record in the 118th Congress over the course of the coming months, while continuing to deliver for Hudson Valley families," he stated. "I ran to represent Hudson Valley families and I intend to stay here and see out my term - unlike prior members who represented the 17th District."
Dan Diller, Policy Director of the Lugar Center, praised Lawler's approach since joining Congress. "Upon arriving in the House last year, Rep. Lawler demonstrated that his service would be based on a bipartisan approach to legislating," said Diller. "His 2023 achievements of the 4th highest score on the Bipartisan Index and the 3rd most bipartisan co-sponsorships in the House would be impressive for any member, but is doubly so for a freshman."
Congressman Lawler represents New York's 17th Congressional District, located just north of New York City and encompassing all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.
