The beleaguered East Ramapo Central School District is in desperate financial straits, and state Sen. Bill Weber believes the solution lies in increased state funding. The Hudson Valley Republican opposes forcing the community to pay higher school taxes, which they have resisted for a decade.

"We need to step up and support our schools with adequate state funding," Weber stated. He emphasized that relying on local taxpayers who are already stretched thin is not a viable option.
