Today, Congressman Mike Lawler expressed his opinion that District Attorney Alvin Bragg should be removed from office. Lawler's statement was in response to what he described as political prosecutions involving President Donald Trump, Marine hero Daniel Penny, and Jose Alba.
Lawler commented on the recent jury decision regarding Daniel Penny, stating, "The jury righted a tremendous wrong — he never should have been charged in the first place." He praised Penny for his service to the country and efforts to protect others, calling the verdict "a just verdict."
In further remarks, Lawler criticized Bragg's performance as District Attorney. "Alvin Bragg has failed in his responsibilities to enforce the law and keep New Yorkers safe," said Lawler. He accused Bragg of engaging in political prosecutions in several cases and concluded, "He should be removed from office immediately."
Congressman Lawler is known for being one of the most bipartisan members of the 118th Congress. He represents New York's 17th Congressional District, which includes areas north of New York City such as Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.
