Reps. Mike Lawler of New York and Jared Moskowitz of Florida have introduced a bipartisan resolution in the House to address the threat posed by a nuclear-armed Iran. The resolution emphasizes that the United States, Israel, and their allies should consider all options to counter this potential threat. Companion legislation has been introduced in the Senate by Senators Lindsey Graham, John Fetterman, and Katie Britt.

Rep. Lawler stated, "An Iran that has nuclear weapons is unacceptable and a danger not only to our closest ally, Israel, but also to the whole world." He emphasized the importance of working across party lines with his colleagues in both chambers to convey the serious consequences Iran would face if it continues its nuclear ambitions.

Rep. Moskowitz echoed these sentiments: "Allowing Iran to maintain and build a nuclear program is an existential threat to the United States, Israel, and global stability." He stressed that Iran must dismantle its nuclear program immediately and highlighted the resolution's role in sending a strong message against any further escalation.

Senator Graham described a nuclear-armed Iran as one of history's most destabilizing events. He noted that while this resolution does not authorize military force, it aims to establish clarity on Iran’s intentions regarding its nuclear capabilities.

Graham also acknowledged his colleagues' leadership on this issue: "It speaks volumes that members from across the political spectrum are united on this front."

Senator Fetterman underscored the urgency of addressing Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons: "This resolution sends an unmistakable message: all options are on the table to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran."

Senator Britt reinforced this stance by stating that peace is achieved through strength and emphasized using every available tool against Tehran’s aggression.

The resolution affirms that Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons poses credible threats to both U.S. national security and regional stability in the Middle East. It calls for immediate cessation of activities like uranium enrichment and development or possession of delivery vehicles capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

Congressman Lawler represents New York's 17th Congressional District which includes parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.
