On February 20, 2025, the office of Congressman Mike Lawler shared a letter of support from Latino community leaders. The release included statements from Lawler's spokesman, Nate Soule.

"From Vice Chair Alvarado’s predecessor to former members of the Peekskill City Council and leaders of prestigious community organizations, it’s clear the ridiculous attacks on Congressman Lawler are overblown and hyper partisan," said Soule. He added that "the Congressman’s record as a bipartisan problem solver and thoughtful lawmaker is clear." Soule criticized those who he claims are engaging in character assassination against Lawler because they cannot debate immigration policy or defend their own beliefs and votes.

Congressman Lawler represents New York's 17th Congressional District, located just north of New York City, encompassing all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.
