Montefiore Nyack Hospital hosts weekly online health chats through April

The Community Health and Wellness Department at Montefiore Nyack Hospital is organizing a series of online community chats every Thursday from noon to 1:00 p.m. The sessions will feature guest speakers, including physicians, health providers, and local community resource professionals. Each week, the discussions will focus on different topics related to health, wellness, and social services. Participation in these live chats is free, but registration via Zoom is required.

Montefiore Nyack Hospital aims to empower individuals by providing educational opportunities and resources for better health management. Topics scheduled for March and April include eldercare planning, asthma management, Parkinson's Disease control strategies, healthy family relationships, and fall prevention.

On March 20, 2025, the topic "Navigating Care Options: Private Duty Nursing vs. Home Care" will be explored. Participants will learn about the differences between private duty nursing and home care services.

"LUMA: Learn to Understand and Manage Asthma," scheduled for March 27, 2025, aims to educate patients with asthma and their caregivers about the condition's underlying causes.

On April 10, 2025, representatives from the Parkinson’s Wellness Project will discuss managing Parkinson's Disease in "Parkinson’s Disease: The Balancing Act of Taking Control."

A licensed clinical psychologist specializing in couple and family therapy will lead a discussion on April 17, 2025. The session titled "Supporting Healthy Relationships" is part of a program designed to help parenting couples improve communication skills and achieve family success.

The final chat on April 24, 2025—titled "Fall Prevention"—will address the risks associated with falls among older adults. It aims to raise awareness about fall-related injuries that are prevalent among Americans aged 65 and older.

Registration opens one week before each chat session. For those unable to attend live events, recordings will be available on YouTube. Interested individuals can subscribe to view past conversations.
