Montefiore Nyack Hospital has been acknowledged as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention in 2025 by Healthgrades. This recognition highlights hospitals with outstanding clinical outcomes in coronary intervention procedures, such as angioplasty with stent placement.
Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the most common type of heart disease and involves the narrowing of arteries supplying blood to the heart. This condition occurs due to inflammation and atherosclerosis, where plaque buildup from cholesterol and other substances restricts blood flow through the artery. Insufficient blood flow can lead to angina, arrhythmias, heart failure, and heart attacks. Angioplasty is a treatment that aims to widen or open blocked or narrowed arteries to restore normal blood flow.
Healthgrades evaluates approximately 4,500 hospitals based on objective quality measures like clinical outcomes, patient safety, and patient experience. Montefiore Nyack Hospital was assessed in four out of five procedures: coronary interventional procedures, heart attack, heart failure, and either coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery or valve surgery. The award is determined using Medicare inpatient data from the Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MedPAR) file compiled by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Montefiore Nyack Hospital employs board-certified specialists who use cardiac catheterization for diagnostic tests and various treatments such as implanting pacemakers, inserting stents, removing blood clots in lungs, and treating heart blockages. These procedures are conducted at their Cardiac Catheterization Lab opened in 2021 near the Emergency Center for quick patient transport during emergencies.
Montefiore Nyack Hospital is a community acute care medical facility with 391 beds founded in 1895. It aims to provide competent emergency and acute care services to Rockland County residents and surrounding areas. It is part of Montefiore Health System and collaborates with Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical student rotations.
Healthgrades is committed to fostering connections between patients, doctors, and hospitals by offering a platform for finding doctors and healthcare transparency. For over two decades, they have assisted health systems in reaching consumers on their journey to healthcare providers.
