Congressman Mike Lawler has introduced the Home Run for Kids Act to support families with the expenses associated with organized youth sports. This initiative coincides with the upcoming Little League Opening Day, highlighting its importance for children from diverse economic backgrounds.

The proposed legislation offers a tax credit of up to $200, aimed at assisting families with the costs of sports equipment for children participating in organized sports. The benefit is targeted at families with an income of up to $150,000.

"Sports like baseball give kids more than just a chance to stay active – they teach them important life lessons about teamwork, discipline, and community. As someone who grew up playing Little League here in the Hudson Valley, I know firsthand the positive impact sports can have. This bill is all about making it easier for families in New York and across the country to give their kids that same opportunity," Congressman Lawler stated.

He further added, "Let’s enjoy the season and get out there to support our kids – and, of course, ‘Go Yankees!’ You never know – the next MLB stars could be stepping up to the plate at their local ballpark right now.”

Representing New York's 17th Congressional District, Congressman Lawler is recognized as a notably bipartisan figure in Congress. His district includes parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties. In the 118th Congress, he was rated as the most effective freshman lawmaker, ranking 8th overall, surpassing many committee chairs.
