The McCall Elementary Student Council had a big weekend during the Texas Association of Student Councils Middle Level Annual Conference, earning a top award and having their advisor elected to the TASC Board of Directors.

Shannon Reynolds, who has guided the McCall Student Council to many Outstanding Student Council and Sweepstakes Awards, has been elected to serve a three-year term on the TASC Board of Directors. She serves as the coordinator of TASC District 3 Middle Level, has presented at the TASC Advisors Workshop and takes her council annually to TASC workshops and events.

Reynolds has been a student council advisor for 26 years, the last 13 at McCall.

“Shannon is an amazing leader and continually goes above and beyond to develop young leaders at McCall and ensure all students and families are well cared for,” McCall Elementary Assistant Principal Jake Bean said. “We are very lucky to have her!”

Reynolds and the McCall Student Council also earned a Top Project during the Virtual Middle Level Awards for their Buckets of Love project. Six student council families per month sign up to provide McCall staff with a Bucket of Love that includes all the needed ingredients for an easy prep dinner.

“Our goal is that by the end of the year, each staff member will have received a Bucket of Love,” Reynolds said. “So far, the recipients have loved their buckets.”
